Americans get most of their radiation not from cell phones, microwaves or airport scanners, but from receiving too many medical scans – Americans are the most medically tested with radiation people in the world. According to the Wall Street Journal, half of the most advanced procedures which use medical radiation in the world occur in the US. Also, the average American absorbs a radiation dose six times higher than a couple of decades ago. Radiation is a hidden danger. While its immediate effects may not show right away, they may result in long-term problems for the individual. The overuse of radiation scans can be linked to the higher image quality of a CT scan as opposed to other tests which is so convenient to doctors, and the fear of malpractice lawsuits. Doctors would like to test everything to make sure they do not miss a heart attack or any other condition. Still, too much testing may have a harmful effect on the patient in the long run. A toothache treatment using X-ray scans may cause thyroid cancer to the patient.

I lost a trial yesterday in Brooklyn Supreme Court. But the most amazing thing happened today. My client called me today to thank me for what I did for her. She thought I was amazing. Her praise was so wonderful and unexpected that I asked her to put her feelings in an e-mail to me so I could put it on my website for others to see. She happily agreed. Although disappointed with the result of her case, she felt that my representation of her was outstanding. You might be asking why I would tell a story involving a case I lost at trial.
