Hospital Infections – Leaving Worse Than You Came
Most patients admitted into the hospital have a weakened immune system, putting them at increased risk for nosocomial or hospital infections. More than two million patients develop hospital-acquired infections each year, which accounts for about 5% of the hospitalized population. With the increase in invasive procedures this statistic jumps up to 8% of all patients who are hospitalized. Approximately 90,000 of these patients will die from the infection they receive while in the hospital.
