Hospital-Acquired MRSA Infections
Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, most commonly known as a staph infection or a MRSA infection, has become one of the leading infections in hospital and medical settings in the United States. The condition was first noted in 1961, about two years after methicillin was created to treat staph infections. However, this form of antibiotic slowly became less effective and a new strain of infection was created that was resistant to methicillin.
